Tethered
by Alicia Marroquin
The horse stands tethered in yonder field
He pulls at tufts, takes his fill
The brave one unties the leathers
And rides from plain to travers
Justice moves the swift air Titan
Unrehearsed and charging
Heels of Fire
The steed aflame
Destiny flies on emblazoned mane
With beating breath he charges
Onward through forest floor
To gallop to chance to not remain
Amid tethered fields, the farmers grain
One chance, one chance and no more
Thunder hooves through forest floor
Without return, without regret
The tethered fields ignored
Destiny will leave behind
Those tied to fate’s encounter
Those who fear to mount her
Ten Commandments and then ten more
Lay waste minds fear filled banter
Look straight ahead
Let go the reins
Let loose the Titan’s canter
